JLA: Secret Origins Leads To Liberty and Justice For All - 3/08/2002
The DC Online Newsletter has broken the news that this spring the secret will be out...and we'll owe it all to writer Paul Dini and artist Alex Ross.

Arriving in Novermeber from that best-selling and multiple-award winning creative team is the special 48-page JLA: SECRET ORIGINS one-shot. And, while this book is in the oversized 10" x 13 1/2" format made famous by the four previous Dini/Ross collaborations (SUPERMAN: PEACE ON EARTH, BATMAN: WAR ON CRIME, SHAZAM!: POWER OF HOPE and WONDER WOMAN: SPIRIT OF TRUTH), JLA: SECRET ORIGINS is not a continuation of that series of stories. Trusty man on the scene, Ed Roeder, has also posted a set of pics from the show floor. Just like being there!

Shonen Jump Comes To Viz - 30/07/2002
Viz Communications has announced that the hugely popular manga magazine Shonen Jump will be launched to audiences in November, 2002. The magazine, known as the birthplace of the greatest Japanese artists and stories, sells over three million copies every week, to ages ranging from junior high students to adults--in a country with half the population of the U.S.

Each issue of Shonen Jump will be 256 or more pages and will feature the most popular comics from the original Japanese edition. As an added bonus the comics in Shonen Jump will be printed in the right-to-left Japanese-reading format to preserve the original artwork--but with English sound effects to make them as easy to read in Australia as they were in Japan.

BOTP: The Science Of Ninja G-Force - 28/07/2002
Patrick Macias has written an article that takes a nostalgic look back at the adventures of the science ninja of G-Force on Animerica. He makes an interesting comparison between the Americanised version of Battle Of The Planets which most of us will be familiar with (and which has recently been re-released by Rhino Home Video on DVD and VHS) and the original Tatsunoko Productions' Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
The Americanized BOTP didn't much at first look like what we've come to think of today when we think of "anime." If anything, the show's art style, with "men in tights" costumes and muscular protagonists, owed as much to American superhero comics as it did to previous Tatsunoko Pro. shows like Speed Racer (which had already been shown in the USA in the late sixties).
BOTP is also the deserving subject of a new comic series being produced by Alex Ross and Top Cow Productions. It really was an unforgettable series.

Affleck on Reactions to Daredevil - 24/07/2002
Ben Affleck, who will star in the upcoming DAREDEVIL film, has spoken to Sci Fi Wire about the reaction of some comic fans to the adaption of the Marvel Comics series.
"On the Internet, people hated the X-Men idea-and I was one of them-until it came out. It's one of those things where you have to just see it. The Internet is a place where everybody gets to be a critic, and inherently you're not going to get something with uniformity. We stayed very close to the actual comic book, so if you were a fan of the comic book, you'll actually like the movie. We sort of erred on that side, which I think was a good way to go."
DAREDEVIL is aimed to be released in February 2003, although minor delays have been reported in shooting some of the film's action sequences.
